WASHINGTON -- The nastiness of August's health care debate reached into the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday as President Barack Obama tried to move his reform plan forward.

South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson shouted "You lie!" after Obama had talked about illegal immigrants.

It wasn't the only interruption during Obama's speech to a joint session of Congress in the House of Representatives. Earlier, Republicans laughed when Obama acknowledged that there are still significant details to be worked out before a health care overhaul can be passed.

Wilson's outburst caused Obama to pause briefly before he went on with his speech. Overhead in the visitors' gallery, first Lady Michelle Obama shook her head from side to side.

If people would lose 10lbs,

If people would lose 10lbs, do some type of physical activity for 5hrs/week, cut the carbs, they would save the healthcare system lots of money. Take some personal responsibility. Stop blaming illegals for your problems.

What happened was rude.

What happened was rude. People do rude things. However, we still have freedom of speech in this country. Therefore, he could say what he wanted to say. After all, the democrats that heckled President Bush were not punished nor did they apologize. Besides, what was said was the truth. Hard to live with sometimes but nonetheless, fact. obama has not exactly been the harbinger of factual information.

Roeschen, what he said was

Roeschen, what he said was not the truth. The bill only covers legal American citizens. This is just more lies from rightwingers. The willful ignorance the surrounds this bill is astounding. Mr. Wilson embarassed himself and the person who is seeking to unseat him has collected 400,000 dollars in less than twenty for hours. Thank God he doesn't REPRESENT my district!!!

Dumb schmuck Joe Wilson has

Dumb schmuck Joe Wilson has done a stellar job of sinking SC to unprecedented depths in our eternal home -- the world cesspool. No surprise for a state that has always been good at doing bad things and bad at doing good things. This is par for the course for folks moving through life without direction and frustrated people who don't look like the first family.

If the Republican Party and

If the Republican Party and its leaders keep this up, the Democrats will win the elections in 2012, no problem. They already have a brand and image problem, and this isn't helping one bit.

Are not illegal immigrants

Are not illegal immigrants receiving free health care today? What are they going to do unplug the respirator or refuse them care. I'm not a Obama supporter, but I don't want a person to suffer needlessly.

If Obama is lying, then he

If Obama is lying, then he should know that it would be political suicidel. But Bush and Cheney did nothing BUT lie, and the American people bought it hook, line and sinker. Here we are in a hole that the Repubs dug, and then pulled up the ladder, and they are too blind to see that they are in it too. So they blame it on Obama.

It's not worth impeaching

It's not worth impeaching him. Just consider him an anachronism like all of the other southern conservative right wing Repubs. The world is passing them by. They don't know that 80 percent or the American people have moved on. Why fuss over a corpse?
