Coroner releases information in Aiken shooting

The victim of a shooting in Aiken has been identified as 30-year-old Donald M. McCalla Jr., of Princess Lane in Aiken.

According to a statement released this afternoon by Coroner Tim Carlton, Mr. McCalla was the victim of a shooting at 411 Abbeville St NW at approximately 8 p.m. Tuesday.

An autopsy in Newberry this afternoon revealed Mr. McCalla died from multiple gun shot wounds to the upper and lower parts of his body. The manner of death in this case is homicide, the coroner said.

Mr. McCalla's death is being investigated by the Aiken Department of Public Safety and the Aiken County Coroner's Office.
