Construction to close I-20 ramp

  • Follow Latest News

A Columbia County Interstate 20 ramp will be intermittently closed for construction work, beginning tonight.

The westbound I-20 exit ramp onto Belair Road will be closed from 10 p.m. to midnight weeknights through Sept. 18. The ramp will also be closed to traffic from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sept. 19, according to a press release from the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The closing is necessary for crews to form and pour concrete walls on the ramp, the release said.

Traffic will be diverted along Wheeler and South Belair roads.

The word in the community

The word in the community circles is that Jay Weinburger has had some emotional issues for a long while, for which he had or should have had medical treatment. He was not a crook or a thief, he was a decent man. I understand why the family would keep this quiet, in fact it is not anyone's business. However, when the Putnam County police became involved and the fact that there was a stolen trailer, the family got put in a awkward position. I do think the family should not have responded with a Masters looking back drop saying this had nothing to do with business, especially so soon. It just made it more mysterious, suspicious and subject to speculation and rumor. While I do not know his exact problems, I think the family would benefit by going ahead and make the issue public. By doing so, Jay will be remembered as an honorable man, the family will be seen as caring more about his loss than saving business revenue, and maybe others affected with this malady might benefit from its public revelation. I really didn't know him personally, just met him a few times in public. He was a good man.

RFV - maybe you should learn from whatever caused your prior removal. What does the topic of your post here have to do with the closing of one or more ramps on I-20??
