The lawyer's name came up last week as the Augusta Commission was questioned by sheriff’s investigators and the FBI about possible bribe attempts involving the proposed trade, exhibit and event center.

Commissioners said they understood that an attorney had approached Commissioners Alvin Mason and Corey Johnson about their votes.

Sheriff Strength indicated

Sheriff Strength indicated that there could be more arrests (according to the story on Wrdw)..so if Austin is saying this thing ends with Fry.. I think he is getting some bad information. And it looks like the FBI is taking a more active role. Sheriff Strength called the situation "bizarre" and admitted that he has recordings as evidence. From the sheriff's statement, it appears that they believe others are involved.

Lets face it, lawyers always

Lets face it, lawyers always represent someone. So who was bankrolling this guy? In answer to Craigs inquiry, The DDA was established under the laws of the state of Georgia. I would assume they are under the transparency laws. I have said repeatedly the DDA is not in compliance with the City Code and also the state laws they are organized under. Go to the city web site, then legal dept, then city code and read what it says. While reading, look at the funding for the organization and the makeup which by law is 7 members but our code lists 8. The way they get around it is to number two people as number 1. Crazy, but that just shows how well our elected officials run this little town, they are so busy grabbing for money projects that they can't even keep the code updated.

BTW I believe the lady sueing

BTW I believe the lady sueing Chiquita could use the current Code as an indicator of the inefficiency of the management of the legal department. I am not sure but I believe the legal department isn't even addressed in the code which raises a question of if a department has no rules approved by the Commissioners, how could an employee break a rule? Also raises a question as to whether Chiquetas job evaluation includes manageing the city code to insure it is always up to date for the citizens perusal.

Looks to me like Brad & Hill

Looks to me like Brad & Hill guy are all over this one...this is good..it is democracy in action if only on the internet. BUT AT LEAST they are doing a great service to the citizens of augusta by explaining & edifying what is going on with the DDA...as for joebowles remark about "there is not much money to be made here" now come on joe..how "uninformed" do you think the citizens of this town are or how "uninformed" are you? if you are referring to the garage ONLY maybe yes but this TEE center PROJECT is going to LINE THE POCKETS big time of several politicos...(most of them will be behind the scenes) while we get to see the stepin fetch it show in the elected official arena (by BOTH white & black lower echelon officials)...EXACTLY LIKE EVERY YEAR THE FIRST WEEK IN APRIL...bottom line this is a GROSS (and rather hypocritical) WASTE OF TAX DOLLARS - no matter how you spin it..

Lawyers can and do invest on

Lawyers can and do invest on their own behalf without any clients, especially if they are retired as Mr. Fry seems to be. Still, who is he? What did he do before retiring??? Who did he work for? Whatever??

David Fry used to own DW

David Fry used to own DW Fry’s bar and grill on the corner of Highland and Wrightsboro rd and later owned or was involved with a club called Marlow’s, which has had several names since located across from Hooters on Washington rd. We where interested in the property and his name was on the P&Ls for the club.
