Atlanta area woman killed as bullet comes through window

ROSWELL, Ga. — Police in Roswell are investigating the killing of a 20-year-old woman who died when she was struck by a bullet fired through an apartment window.

Officials said Fantasia Byrd arrived in the Atlanta area less than two weeks ago. Police say numerous shots were fired through the window early Sunday, and they believe the bullet was intended for someone else.

Officers say Byrd had just moved to Roswell from New York. They say Byrd and her cousin had gone out Saturday night and returned to the cousin's apartment around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. They say the shots were fired less than half an hour later.

Any [filtered word] who does a drive by

Any [filtered word] who does a drive by or random shooting like this, wether they hit somoen or not, when caught should receive the death penalty! So sad, condolences to her family.

I'm battling anger about

I'm battling anger about shootings, too, but not so random ones. My house was shot at numerous times, I knew who one of them was, and I found out who the others were, and yet, they're still walking around free last I heard. I felt a bit vindicated when I found out that a year later, one of them shot up the side door of his father's house, for "no apparent reason". He took out several panes of our bay window, trying to shoot our cat, according to one neighbor. Then that neighbor put a bullet in the side of my deck, 2 feet from where I was standing, while she was wrestling with two men and a gun at a nearby intersection, and the other, admitted to an officer that he shot our dog (after the statute of limitations was out), but didn't admit shooting at me while I was washing dishes at my kitchen sink. Another neighbor shot two of our other pets in our backyard (confined pets!) The neighbor that put the bullet in my wall, broke the neck of one of our pets. But I'm the bad guy. How does THAT work?

BTW, Before everybody jumps

BTW, Before everybody jumps all over me. I DID move. Two years after I moved, the same trouble started in my new neighborhood (loud music, gunshots, people not taking care of their properties so that they are mosquito and "varmint" ridden, loose dogs, feral cats, and who knows what else?) I watched it deteriorate for one year, even a neighbor and an officer giving the "shooters" (that reeked of the smell of marijuana, according to both the officer and the neighbor) a talking-to couldn't get them to stop shooting off their .22 so I packed up and moved AGAIN. It's noisy here, but at least the noise just passes through and doesn't sit next door thumping away for hours on end. I also don't have to wade through clouds of reefer smoke when I'm working in my yard now. I hope it stays that way.
