Woman robbed in vestibule of downtown Catholic church

Police are looking for a man who robbed a woman in the vestibule of a downtown church Friday.

The suspect entered the Church of the Most Holy Trinity in the 700 block of Telfair Street around 8 a.m. claiming to need a bandage for an open wound, according to a Richmond County sheriff’s report. Before the victim could respond, the man grabbed her purse, pushed her to the ground and ran.

The suspect is described as black, in his 20s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a wound on his right forearm.

Anyone with information can contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 821-1080.

Definitely a genetic thing. Their is definitely a gene for thieving and cowardice.

TrulyWorried

Odd comment, mad max - this a a truly sad world - and no place is safe anymore. God help us!

You should move your lines closer together; too easy too read between them.

Something is bad wrong with this segment of the population.

These violent criminal thugs deserve to never walk our streets again - this violent crime MUST be brought under control and stopped. Leaders need to address the problem in full, to include that 95% of all of the violent crime occurring is due to black males under 35 or so years of age. If the black leaders in the community truely cared about everyone, or even just their male youth, they would do something to stop the madness because the Sheriff's Office may not be preventing most of these crimes but they are arresting over 80% of these thugs and putting them in jail. Violent crime knows no race, gender or age but the reality is that over 95% is due to black males and that is something that is worth marching about, having major conversations and trying to solve the problem. Wonder why there is racial profiling? When this is what is going on, how can you help not profile? The black community as a whole is much closer than any other races and always seem to come together when they think some outside force it hurting them or holding them back but they are being destroyed from within and are failing to do anything about it. This thug is pathetic!

RAWR

It is a shame that our state disarms citizens in places like this.

helpicantfindthespacebar

There's prolly an extra hot place in hell for someone who robs another in a church...

concernednative

latwon and danny your right it is all Obama's fought. asitis, where in the world are you getting those insane stats from 95% black men under 35. I know we are just blogging but that is insane to put such a lie out there.

humbleopinion

If the robber needs a job, I'm sure that Obama could find a place for him in the new administration. After all, it is filling up fast with criminals, tax cheats, Chicago thugs and other miscreants.

missaugusta07

So it's Obama's fault she got robbed?Okay well what about all the other robberies, killings that occuried during the Bush administration,if McCain had been elected that robbery still would have happened.Bush had thugs in his administration as well, but you don't call them that because they are'nt let's just say the same as you,so you call them thugs... but they are called something far more better.and the I saw on the news last night were some people are doing robberies a different way, stealing debit cards from old people,or stealing from they're own job, that's thug mentality as well ..robbing is crime no matter what color, but that is never brought up,just that all black people rob and kill you might need to check the statistics again, being a thug these days don't have a color...Bush was a thug for 8 years,he robbed from all of us now you expect Obama to clean up a 8 year mess within a year,if it was the old man McCain you would complain but not like this.

One would have thought that her imaginary friend Jesus, supposedly being omnipotent, would have done something to prevent that from happening.......

bettyboop

missaugusta..you get the dumbest post of the day award....you just can't fix stupid.

Irish

I disagree dame, I think whocares is the most deserving of that honor, , it is without a doubt the saddest comment of the day....shallow and pathetic......we'll pray for the disbeliever.....

whocareswhatyouthink

Good for you, Irish. And could you please sacrifice a goat in my name while you are at it???

lookinforhope

I'm amazed that the President's get pulled into everything again. This is about a lady at a church getting robbed, not about the President (if you want to call him that). As far as "her imaginary friend Jesus" that is very sad. He did do something, she was not shot and nothing else was taken, I would say that in it'sself is a miracle! At least the robber got a new purse he can give to his girlfriend for their 3 week anniversary.

missaugusta07's only oversight is that she left out Dick Cheney, Bush's co-conspirator and Ex-CEO of Halliburton that ensured they got no bid billion dollar contracts as he profited from them. Blood money from Iraq since over 4,000 US Servicemen and women died and 100,000's of Iraqis. Mad Max is there a thieving Gene that is common with Bush, Cheney and Bernie Madoff ? You seem to be the jail house genetics expert among the bunch.

Irish

Haven't got a goat....you'll just have to settle for my sympathy and prayers...

Debster

I can't believe whocares' post. If I weren't a Christian, I wouldn't care and wouldn't be praying for you. Such a shame! And, missaugusta, please tell me you really weren't Miss Augusta 2007. I'd hate to think someone with your lack of intellect would be chosen to represent the City of Augusta.

Fiat_Lux

Well, I guess Most Holy Trinity will go back to locking up the church again. The human debris that hangs around there mostly are just homeless who panhandle and might be a little nutty. Some have even slept in the pews during the day, which doesn't bother me except they used to scare the daylights out of the kids. This particular piece of trash apparently is no more evolved than "WhoCaresWhatYouThink". They both probably also believe the world is flat and that there are no such thing as invisible germs or atoms. We have such towering intellects with us this morning-- including no less than the ever-entertaining Miss Augusta 07 to keep WhoCares company. (I really need to go back find out who she is. A face must be paired with this much obtuseness.)

whocareswhatyouthink

No Fiat, I don't believe the world is flat. I also don't believe that some magic guy in the sky caused the world to pop into existence 6000 years ago. And I resent having someone try to cram their silly superstitions down my throat. But go ahead and "pray" for me. At least it keeps you idle minds occupied and you won't have to run the risk of doing any actual thinking.........

Fiat_Lux

Believe whatever you like, WhoCares. It's not my job, nor anyone elses, to convince you of anything. Personally, I couldn't care less what choices you make about truth and reality. I do believe, however, that I have a responsibility to offer what I know (ie, "There's a car coming!") and what I simply believe on faith (ie, "Atoms have electrons", or "God loves us.") to anyone who is interested. Offering something is a far cry from cramming it down someone's throat. If you think belief in God is silly superstition, well, you certainly have the right to and a lot of company as well. Live long and prosper.

Roeschen

Who Cares -Oh, you don't like silly superstitions crammed down your throat but you buy everything obama says? If you don't like religion, don't listen, it is as easy as that. I am not Christian, but I have studied Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism. I think it is important to keep an open mind. Also, I read parts of the Bible to my children when they were growing up. There are some very good stories in all religions, much like Aesop's fables - they teach lessons. BTW, you are very insulting - are you related to Madalyn Murray O'Hair?

Roeschen

How low does one sink, to rob somebody in a church. Liberals at their finest.

TakeAstand

concernednative you are right 95% may not be right, just curious what percentage do you think it is, just here in the CSRA? I mean Do you read the news everyday? Are all these victims lying about who robbed them? I'm for real, what do you think the breakdown is on all these muggings, robberys and burglaries and shootings? On a final note, i could care less what color these p.o.s's are anyone who kills another, harms another, or takes something thats not theirs from someone else who had to work for what they have doesn't deserve to live, at the very least not in this country!!

CobaltGeorge

You realize takeastand that if you use facts for your opinion you will be branded as a racialist.

Againstallodds

Mad max,

If there was a genetic thing going on with the robber, there is also a genetic thing going on with you. Use spell check the next time you decide to make another ignorant post.

TakeAstand

Lol yeah Cobalt, seems that way huh. Those darn pesky little facts. Againstallodds, you're probably right, I am not so sure it is genetics either. This is a learned mentality and will never go away as long as it keeps being encouraged, made excuses for, and glorified!
