Authorities are trying to determine the identity of a man who assaulted a woman inside a home health services provider on Wednesday.

According to a Richmond County sheriff’s report, the man entered ResCare Homecare at 1225 Augusta West Parkway about 11:40 a.m. and became violent. He threw items off the reception desk and threatened that he was going to kill his girlfriend and another man. The man then grabbed a woman and pushed her against a wall at the back of the business. Two witnesses intervened and began to hit the attacker. The woman fled out the back door, tripping and scraping her knees in the process. The attacker continued to try to get the woman but was held down until authorities arrived.

One deputy received an injury to his right index finger when the man resisted being put on a gurney to be taken to a hospital by Gold Cross. EMTs had to sedate the man to transport him to Doctors Hospital, according to the report.

The woman was treated for moderate lacerations on her knees. The woman told officers she did not know the attacker or the man he threatened to kill.
