A Dearing man was unscathed after the vehicle he was driving landed on its side in front of Kroger on Columbia Road in Martinez.
Columbia County Sheriff's Deputy Jim DiArenzo said that Peter Menendez, 36, was driving a red Honda Civic eastbound on Columbia Road when he lost control of the vehicle as he was turning left into the Kroger shopping center at around 10:30 a.m.
The car struck a concrete median and went airborne before hitting the curb and flipping on its side. It landed on the guy wire of a utility pole, which likely prevented the vehicle from landing near the Kroger gas pumps, Deputy DiArenzo said.
A Georgia Power employee cut the guy wire and lowered the car with a winch.
According to Deputy DiArenzo, Mr. Menendez was cited with driving too fast for conditions and failure to maintain lane.

Actually, he was auditioning for a role as driver in the upcoming movie chronicling the lives of Bo and Luke Duke and he thought he saw Daisy Duke in the parking lot of Kroger. He was trying to jump the utility pole, but got caught on the wire. And they could not find any big wheeled four wheel drive pickups with a winch, so they had to settle for a Ga. Power truck. He is going to plead not guilty to driving too fast for conditions, because technically he was not going fast enough to clear the utility pole.
I saw this on my lunch break I can't believe he was unharmed.

No surprise. Been lots of accidents over the years in front of that Kroger, including I know at least one other overturned car. Folks drive wide open on Columbia Road, especially near the Kroger Road intersection.
