A coalition of Augustans opposed to the national health care reform plan will hold a rally from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Riverwalk amphitheater.
Speakers at the SOC (Stop Obama Care) Rally will include doctors, health care providers, congressmen and other elected officials, and citizens who have experienced socialized health care, according to the Web site socrally.com.
Columbia County resident Billy Jackson is chairman of the committee organizing the SOC event.
Attendees are asked to bring socks to the event that will be mailed to the Capitol in protest of House Bill 3200. Mr. Jackson has said Georgia Congressmen Paul Broun and Nathan Deal have agreed to speak, and the committee has invited Congressmen John Barrow and Gresham Barrett, and Sens. Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson.
Rally against Obama set for Thursday---------I corrected it!!
How about a rally to bring all our jobs back to the USA.
How about a rally to bring back decency----------
I thought this originated with Columbia County residents, now it's a coalition of AUGUSTANS, the AUGUSTANS didn't start this mess the COLUMBIANS did, what... LOL... Disgusta chronicle make sure you take plent of pic of poster toting nuts.
Dress: Klan kasual; no sheets, just white socks.
Do you really think that those of us that work hard, pay taxes, pay for our insurance, and take care of our family are the problem? The problem is lazy, stupid, and uneducated people that want things free (which means paid for by those of us that work). Gosh! I can't imagine why we're upset with Obama Care!! Make fun of us all you want - we will always win in the end because we know how to work, save money, and keep you from taking it!
Poster toting nuts???? Why, is ACORN going to be there demanding more free stuff for black folks.
zigzag that's funny I've been working since I was 18 years old, so doesn't that mean I pay for the lazy, stupid and uneducated ones as well, I'm not upset at Obama.
You will be wait and see.
Citizens who have experienced socialized health care...like the lady from Canada who said she had cancer, when it was a non cancerous cyst, which was non life threatening......riiiiiiiight! More Republican truth......"A TV ad sponsored by the conservative Americans for Prosperity Foundation spotlighted a Canadian woman, Shona Holmes, who has challenged the system in court. She spoke of suffering from a brain tumor and declared she would “be dead’’ had she relied on her government. She said she had to mortgage her home to pay more than $97,000 to get timely treatment at the Mayo Clinic.
In Canada, groups sprouted up on Facebook accusing Holmes of betraying her country and exaggerating her illness.
In a report on its website, the Mayo Clinic said Holmes was suffering from a Rathke’s cleft cyst near her pituitary gland. The websites of several reputable medical groups list the cyst as noncancerous." http://www.boston.com/news/world/canada/articles/2009/08/30/canadians_de...
Republicans wouldn't tell the truth if their lives depended on it.
You all Demheads can't stand it can you. We are tired of the smoke and mirrors. And We want take it any more! We have a right to express our thoughts and a freedom of speech! I bet any of you the bill will not pass as it is written. I agree we need reform. I don't need the government to tell me I need the insurance they will provide and that I will still have to pay for. As far as the Mayo Clinic would be in violation of HIPAA laws if they disclosed on anyone's medical condition. Who lied now!

Posted by jackfruitpaper833 on Tue Sep 1, 2009 12:45 PM...Of course you ain't upset with BimbObama-he's black and could crap on your dining table an it would be OK.
The klan ain't the problem at many of these rallis. It's the BimbObama Army of union thugs rather than the klan.
I will be there to stand up against socialism and the liberal agenda which is more commonly referred to as stealing.
I'm sensing rancor.
Smoke and mirrors? Please! How about the out and out LIES being told by Republicans to protect their precious insurance companies? Death panels...Lie, socialized medicine...LIE, people with cancer.....LIE!!!! Redrider, it's there, so you must be mistaken.....I prefer the term full of manure, personally.
I think everyone should be perfectly willing to be put on a 6 month waiting list to see if their tumor is benign or not. What is the darn hurry? And, if you go blind, as Ms Holmes would have, well, that's the price some of us will have to pay.
dashiel, that was downright funny!
GACopp - are you going to be there with your milkjugs and coffee cans begging for money so others can pay for your healthcare and livelihood?
I pay for my own livelihood, thank you very much. I can't afford the outrageous, usurious prices that are charged, and more than likely you are subsidized by your employer. So you're not even paying for YOUR insurance, if you're subsidized. They're too high for MY employer to afford.
Folks without insurance shouldn't comment. They are the problem. The 300 million who do have insurance are trying to figure out how best to provide for those incapable of providing for themselves. Those without can hardly be objective.
Ho hum, Big O. Don't you realize that accusing supporters of Pres. Obama of being deadbeats is LAME and rarely hits the target? Those who voted for Pres. Obama were MORE likely to be college-educated than those who voted for McCain (and hence at least as likely to be employed and probably more so). But if it makes you feel better to think we're all a bunch of entitlement addicts.....
HotFoot - where did I accuse Obama supporters of being deadbeats? They just want to take from some and give to others. It is stealing and it is wrong. The government forcably taking from one person what is theirs to give to another, removes any moral goodness from the result. It is an act of theft which has a negative effect on the unwilling donor as well as the recipient
how bout CAP AND SLAVE ? how bout seizing the internet? how bout his commie czars? how about the wilfull destruction of the american way? how bout all the lies? obongo is flaming out faster than richard pryor and michael did combined. stay away from the sta-sof-fro mr eggplant.
According to Gallup, the percent among people with a 4 yr degree was equal. True, academia type folks went for Obama by a few points. No surprise there.
GACop, Obama has told his own myriad of lies. I don't think Repubs have a lock on lie telling. By the way, you have posted that you used to vote Republican. Did you suddenly stop telling lies when you switched parties? You can answer that yes or no.
FOlks, the proof of the pudding will be in the tasting of 2010. If the Democrats win, then it will mean that Americans have chosen a new "American Way of Life". As for the 300 million who have insurance, what percentage of them are SUBSIDIZED? Who are the TRUE deadbeats, having SOMEONE ELSE PAY FOR THEIR INSURANCE?
I don't understand your argument about subsidy, GC. You say that when a company provides health insurance for an employee and passes the cost along to the consumer of their products or services, then you, as a member of the consumers of the product or service are subsidizing the employees insurance. What is the difference, then, when the government taxes an individual and takes those taxes to subsidize (or beats down a medical provider into taking a losing amount of money for services provided, who then there by passes along the cost to the privately insured) those on government insurance. That convoluted sentence was trying to say that there are subsidies on the government side of things, as well. Those who you think are getting subsidized by you are paying taxes and subsidizing one heck of a lot of people, including you, if you were to become sick or have an accident and couldn't afford your medical bills.
Nice trick question, KSL. I didn't like the way Bush lied about McCain in the 2000 Republican primary , I HATED that Republicans were the reason that Clinton was not convicted, enough joined the Dems that in essence it was Repubs fault he got off, and though I didn't want Gore, I still believe that Bush pulled a fast one in the election. By 2004, I knew Bush for what I believe him to be now, one of the worst Presidents in history. After the discovery of Newt's philandering while leading the impeachment for Clinton also turned me away for the Republican party of hypocricy. Then there's Craig, Foley, Ensign and Sanford, all proponants in word only of the morals that I hold dear. I didn't really turn Dem, I have just forsworn Republicans because of their propensity to use words like compassionate conservatism, meaning give everything to the rich, and the heck with those of us in the middle class, who actually make the country what it is.
