Authorities arrested two men today they believe were in the early stages of building a methamphetamine lab.

Chad Allen Cooper, 21, of 3551 Mike Padgett Highway, and Jesse James Jernigan, 34, of 1710 Powell Road, are each charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, according to Richmond County Sheriff's Lt. Robert Partain.

Narcotics investigators received information that the men would be transporting equipment to make the drug in their truck today and attempted to make a traffic stop on Deans Bridge Road about 12:30 p.m. when the suspects drove off, Lt. Partain said.

They led deputies to a wooded area near Camp Josey Road in Blythe near the Richmond County Sheriff's Department Training Center, where they fled on foot and were apprehended. Lt. Partain said they recovered chemicals in the truck that are used to make the drug.

I guess they haven't figured

I guess they haven't figured out how to make the new form of meth that's not illegal but has the same effects. Its a shame when the drug dealers out think the law.

letting them kill themselves

letting them kill themselves is not the answer mrlonglegs. i do agree they are wasting their life, money and health not to mention they are risking everything they elses in dear to them. controling the drug and rehabing the addicts is the best coarse of action. Because behind the cloak of addiction still hides wonderful, productive human beings that have alot to offer the world.

Thank goodness they caught

Thank goodness they caught these [filtered word]'s. These people don't care how dangerous these labs are. You are jeopardizing everyone around you. I hope there were no kids in the home where they did this! They may have stopped this batch, but you can bet it wasn't their first time making it

Uh, Jasonpilgrim, most people

Uh, Jasonpilgrim, most people who manufacture meth are NOT users. They are manufacturers that supply others with the drug.
Thinking that you can treat the addict is the liberal approach. Eliminating them is the sensible thing to do.

Here we have two intellectual giants, Jesse James and Chad. Maybe if you are going to try and get away from the cops, it might be a good thing to NOT run into “A wooded area near THE RICHMOND COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT TRAINING CENTER?”
