SUV crashes into house, killing one

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — The Douglas County coroner says an SUV crashed through a house, killing a 60-year-old man inside and injuring family members gathered after a birthday celebration.

Randy Daniel tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution he's been a coroner for 27 years and he's never seen anything like it.

Daniel says George Michael Bryant died at the scene in Douglasville on Saturday night. His wife, Joyce Bryant, was flown to Atlanta Medical Center, where she was in stable condition. A 9-year-old and two others in the house were expected to recover.

The driver of the Lincoln Navigator, who was not identified, was taken to Grady Hospital. Authorities say the Navigator was speeding when it knocked down mailboxes and bushes before crashing through the front of the one-story house and nearly to the back wall.
