Williston-Elko opens season with win over Barnwell

WILLISTON, S.C. - Dexter Staley scored six touchdowns and his Williston-Elko Blue Devils opened the season Thursday with a 56-14 victory over visiting Barnwell.

Staley, a highly touted tailback, proved his worth in the first game of his junior year. He rushed for four touchdowns and scored two more with a 30-yard reception and a 14-yard fumble return. He sat out for the entire fourth quarter as Williston-Elko (1-0) rolled to a season-opening win.

Barnwell (0-2) fumbled eight times in the game, including four turnovers in the first five and a half minutes of the third quarter.
