Kelvin Steffor Johnson was released from Rogers State Prison in Reidsville after serving 16 months of a three-year sentence on a second-degree forgery conviction, according to Georgia Department of Corrections records.

He is now being held without bond at the Richmond County Jail, accused of fatally shooting a Hephzibah woman, wounding her husband and robbing them both of household items and a pickup truck.

Richmond County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Mr. Johnson, 24, around 7:30 a.m. at a home in the 2300 block of Boykin Road, said Richmond County Sheriff’s Sgt. Calvin Chew. He is charged with murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Police believe Mr. Johnson fatally shot Martha Greene shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday at her home in the 2200 block of Plantation Road, Richmond County Sheriff’s Lt. Scott Peebles said in an e-mail.

Her husband, Tilman Coley “T.C.” Greene, was shot in the mouth, and was recovering at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital and Clinics as of this morning, Richmond County Maj. Ken Autry said.

Police said Mr. Johnson rode up to the Greene’s home on a blue Mongoose BMX bicycle and had a short conversation with Mrs. Greene’s husband before pulling out a handgun and struggling with the victim.

During the struggle, Mr. Greene was shot in the face and pretended to be dead, Lt. Peebles said. Mr. Johnson then shot Mrs. Greene at least once, and began rummaging through the couple’s belongings. He got away with a big-screen television and the couple’s white 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck.

Police have not yet located the stolen truck.

Stories, you have to wonder

Stories, you have to wonder why this isn't being discussed as an option in the halls of power. If someone as ordinary as I am could think of it, you'd think the savvy politicians would would have long ago.

He won't get the death

He won't get the death penalty - that trash in Tenn. didn't get it this week so don't expect it in Georgia. Agree or not, It's time to flex our rights under the 2nd ammendment and start taking out these thugs who kill without fear or remorse. Thugs have no fear b/c regular LAW ABIDING ppl can't defend themselves w/o some nut case lib screaming about gun laws. Screw that - come in my yard with some BS and I will surely greet you with some HOT LEAD. Big O is right - Dead trash does not talk.
BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG
Why did I shoot em 6 times? Cos thats all the gun holds!
TIME TO RELOAD!

eachoneteachone the only way

eachoneteachone the only way he will get a death penalty is if he has a all "caucasian" jury. Invariably the black community can't see the fire for the smoke and they always forgive each other. I guess until they decide they want a decent law abiding neighborhood without hoods, they will continue to send trash like this to jail, knowing a life sentence really means 5 - 10 years at most unless they kill someone of importance.

BigO: Americans can stand up

BigO: Americans can stand up all they want. They can yell and shout out their outrage and indignation all they want. The ACLU has become so powerful that just the threat of a lawsuit sends most local government agencies running for cover! Until we cull out the ACLU and other far-left extremist groups, this country will continue it's downward spiral.

terry67 - I would suggest you

terry67 - I would suggest you get a larger clip. Roeschen - I patronize the range at Shooters but haven't purchased any guns from them. The Gun Rack in downtown Aiken is a good store and if you get up towards the Charlotte area stop in at Nichols Store in Rock Hill off Exit 73 I think it is. It is only about a 2 hr drive. They have a large billboard up on the side of the I-77.

Amen....Seriously.....Take our streets back and get our lives back and leave no witnesses......isn't that what they say? Old timers used to say: "You gotta get them before they get you", and I'm starting to really believe it.

I don't know what the big

I don't know what the big deal has always been about vigilanties. Shute, someone is threatening my home or life, i am all about shoot now, ask questions later. some would go gun crazy am sure, but most would just *help* the already tapped out police force by handling it themselves. Not to mention no waste of tax dollars for feeding the scum, trials, etc..
With all that has occured lately, even our kids are living in fear and on edge. Talking to another parent at football practice, his kid was spending the night with friends, they called him scared out there minds cause it sounded like someone was breaking in the house. When the kids parent arrived, the kids were at the door, all holding BASEBALL BATS! Now that is sad in my book..
Shouldn't have to be this way.

Actually I have MANY guns and I'm looking to buy another this
week.

Standupguy is right - the ACLU has gotta go. The have lost their
F***ing minds when it comes to gun laws and the way they treat criminals. We need stocks in the town square to show what happens to ppl who break the law. we need CHAIN GANGS to clean up our roads. And we need the quick and dirty death penalty. Guilty today - dead next week. give em a week to get right with GOD, then introduce them.

Realstandupguy, you are 100%

Realstandupguy, you are 100% correct. That is exactly why we as taxpayers have to foot the bill for millions in a case like brian nichols when he should have been executed a long time ago!!!! Because of all these bleeding hearts jail, death penalty, absolutely nothing is a deterrent for these [filtered word]'s these days!!!

This guy should fry for his

This guy should fry for his actions, but I take exception to the blatant racist comment from asitisinaug. Black male don't commit ninety five percent of crimes. Show us your stats. Everytime one of these thugs commit a crime, the whole black community is blame for their act. Most blacks only know this guy through the TV screen. I'm proud to be black male and I have clean record, well besides one speeding ticket. Most of the black males I know work one or two jobs and are law abiding citizens. This posters comments are racist and a total fabrication.Don't forget, somebody white will do something stupid later today, to show you criminals come in all colors, just ask the great nephew shot last week.Stick with the topic and keep your racist views to yourself.

RCR - 95% isn't accurate BUT

RCR - 95% isn't accurate BUT a very disproportionate amount of crime is committed by blacks and in particular young black men versus their percentage of the population. Blacks make up 13.4% of the population but commit 52.1% of the crime. One-third of all black men between the ages of 20-29 were in prison or jail, on probation or parole on any given day. The figures are available from the Dept of Justice. People can ignore the statistics if they want but statistics don't lie.

Big O, you have to take into

Big O, you have to take into acount these same guys are committing crimes over and over again. They are criminals. But, to infer all black males are criminals is bull. When a white commit a crime, you don't see blacks coming on here to talk about the whites.Less than 5% of blacks are incarcerated according to the Justice Dept. That includes males and females. That is hardly a majority of our population.

terry67 is right, as long as
Unpublished

terry67 is right, as long as the ACLU and other liberal groups are defending the Kelvin Johnson's of the world, tragic stories like this will always populate the news and poor little Kelvin, who was probably raised by his grandmother and never give a fair chance in life will only get another 16 months before he's back at it again. Shameful.

Big O - thank you for the

Big O - thank you for the advice. RCR - I have many friends, both blacks and whites. All are upstanding citizens. I believe that most of my friends have clean records with the exception of the occ. speeding ticket or parking ticket. What bothers me, though, is the gangster attitude seen more and more in today's youth - of all races. It is just my opinion, but it seems like only the very rare teen has any respect for anything. When I go to the mall and see the kids with their pants hanging down below their backsides, the girls with everything hanging out, I have to wonder, where is the self respect. Respect starts at home and we parents, of all races, need to start instilling it in the kids again - maybe the way our parents did. Maybe then the crime rates will drop.

Fiat Lux, when you put people

Fiat Lux, when you put people in the service instead of school, that is de facto discrimination- because college students are disproportionately white. That's what happened during the Viet Nam draft, and it was wrong. All the rich white boys were in college, and the poor white boys and the blacks and Hispanics got sent. How do you equate going to college versus being killed or horribly wounded in a battle? That is fair?

lot of good posts today.

lot of good posts today. corgi, it seems to work in most of Europe. military or public service for four years. college doesn't matter, it's still four years. It seemed to work in S Korea too, only 18 months there. One of my Privates (KATUSA) was a civil engineer. Of course the way these countries handle it is completley different than the US draft. Which party drafted the draft here?

I don't see how the law works

I don't see how the law works if he got three in prison let them serve the full three years, why keep spoon feeding him letting him service 16 months of his sentencing he going to continue to be a repeat defender because he now know how the systems works.

those who sit on the parole

those who sit on the parole board should be liable for any further crimes committed by those who they let back into society without serving thier entire sentence. what could the parole board ever say to the husband who is now a widower to console him. if doctors and lawyers can be sued for malpractice why can't the parole boards????

I can remember when South

I can remember when South Augusta was a great place to live...Not anymore! It has become a breeding ground for thugs, gangs, dealers, and thieves that will kill you for a buck. I travel this area daily and am always on guard. We need to send troops in there to restore law and order. My heartfelt sympathy to the Greene family.

Big O, you won't ever get the

Big O, you won't ever get the death penalty in Richmond County if a black is on trial. It is an unwritten rule between many blacks in Richmond County that no black man get the death penalty no matter what the crime. That's why we have jury nullification in Augusta on a regular basis.

RCR, your 4:19 post is full

RCR, your 4:19 post is full of it. "Less that 5% of blacks in jail" is a figment of your imagination. That is the most ignorant comment you've ever made. Blacks are 15% of the population and commit 78% of violent crimes. I believe that puts much more than 5% of blacks incarcerated.

RCR, here is a real, genuine

RCR, here is a real, genuine DOJ table on, among many other things, the racial breakdown of violent offenders, crimes commited by single individuals and by groups. [http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/pub/pdf/cvus9902.pdf] Look at the data tables for yourself. It's a little out of date, but the info is still probably valid for today.

4ward I understand what

4ward I understand what you're saying. I watched a lovely neighborhood of retirees turn into crack alley right before my eyes over a 7 year span, despite all the efforts of the people like me, who despite of being afraid of possible retaliation, called in tips anyway and prayed. We ended up being accused of being racists and that was the nicest thing they said. I'd sure like to know who was tipping them off, because I was calling in most of these tips anonymously, but they were finding out anyway. So if they are not getting tipped off anymore, you can thank the tipsters from previous years for it getting this bad. I hope that the "unknown" tipsters (besides the ones that ended up in Federal Prison) get exactly what they wreaked upon us. If you foster lawlessness, eventually it's going to come back to haunt you.

I would really love to know

I would really love to know where you guys are getting your Justice Dept data on blacks and crime, because the reports I'm looking at don't look like that. How about doing your homework and giving us some links so that we can see for ourselves if what you're 'quoting' bears any resemblence to the truth. And I want non-biased sources instead of agenda-driven "white's right" or NAACP numbers.
