An Augusta man told police that a man fired a shot at his home in the 100 block of Carmel Way on Tuesday.

According to a Richmond County sheriff’s report, the man told officers that he was standing by his front door about 11:30 a.m. when he heard a bullet hit the front of his home near Milledgeville Road. The man told police he then saw a man with a weapon standing in a nearby wooded area. The man said that the shooter ran in the direction of Gordon Highway.

A woman at the home told an officer that she was in the kitchen when the shot was fired, the report states.

The shooter is described as a white man in his mid-30s with short hair, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. He was wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants.
