A pedestrian who was struck Saturday night on Sand Bar Ferry Road died this morning.
Richmond County Deputy Coroner Johnny McDonald said 33-year-old Anthony Ravenell was hit while crossing the road about 9:10 p.m. He was taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital and died at 6:50 a.m. today.
The driver, 41-year-old Michael Cato, has been charged with driving under the influence and invalid vehicle registration, according to a Richmond County jailer.
Mr. McDonald said that Mr. Ravenell might have been struck by another vehicle as he was lying in the road and that the incident is still under investigation.
