A 31-year-old man was wounded in a shooting tonight in Appling.

Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris said Charles Clifton Norris was shot once in the abdomen at 3402 Ray Owens Road. He was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital, but his condition was not known as of 9:30 p.m., Capt Morris said. The shooting occurred about 8 p.m.

The wounded man’s uncle, Tim Hardin, 62, is in custody but has not been charged, Capt. Morris said.
