SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Justin Jones homered twice to key a 13-hit attack, and Georgia defeated Iowa 11-3 today in the opener for both teams at the Little League World Series.

The Southeast champions from Warner Robins, Ga., also got homers from Trey Maddox and Spencer Sato as they overcame an early 2-1 deficit with three runs in the third.

Jones tied the game with a solo shot, Harley Hunt added an RBI single, and another run scored on an error. Georgia put the game out of reach with a six-run sixth.

Connor Smith had 10 strikeouts in five-plus innings for Georgia, which comes from the same league that won the World Series title in 2007.

All the runs for the team from Urbandale, Iowa, were unearned. Losing pitcher Trae Cropp struck out nine while scoring two runs.
