Women's car hit by bullets

  • Follow Latest News

Gunshots were fired at a car and its two female occupants early Tuesday morning, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office report.

They were traveling on Meadowbrook Drive at Mutimer Drive around 2:40 a.m. when the driver heard what sounded like gunshots and heard something hit the back of the vehicle.

The driver stopped at CVS, 2505 Windsor Spring Road. A deputy saw four bullet holes in the back of the vehicle, two of them in the back door; one had broken the back window and hit the back seat; and one had hit the left taillight.

The driver said she did not see anyone in the street or in a vehicle behind her when the shooting occurred.

Anyone with information can call the sheriff's office at (706) 821-1080.

If you are out at 2:40 A.M.

If you are out at 2:40 A.M. on Meadowbrook Dr. you might as well hang a sign on your car that says "Shoot Me". Of course here lately that applies everywhere in Augusta. There are only two kinds of people out here anymore. Shooters and Moving Targets.

Mad max I am out at those

Mad max I am out at those hours because I do not let filth like these people rule my life. I may be a moving target, but I am one that shoots back.

I say it every time I see one

I say it every time I see one of these reports - if these people weren't out running the streets at 2:40 AM, this wouldn't happen.

Why do you people always say

Why do you people always say the time is an issue? Crime happens at all hours of the day. I am sorry you live such a fearful life.

Time these things happen is

Time these things happen is irrelevant. Banks, store's, etc.. are being robbed in the daytime. People shopping and fearful. You can't walk out your front door anymore.
And get a clue those of you commenting about the time it occured. People work late hours, there is no crime against people out and about.. It's called LIFE and LIVING it.. Sounds like you need to get one.

Not only that Evans but they

Not only that Evans but they could have been out to a club, or coming in from out of town, if they are adults that should be able to move around whenever without the fear of being shot at, some posters are emplying that they are at fault for being out late.....when I was young I partied that late at night........but maybe they were getting off work.

I had missed the article about the other shooting, sounds like the two may be connected, there may be some maniac riding around just shooting at people, the times of the early morning are almost the same......

Baroness, just bc Burger King

Baroness, just bc Burger King closes at 12 and that lets you get home at 12:15 doesnt mean people shouldn't be out late at night. Not everyone sleeps at the same time you do!!

Let me quote my post: "I don't get 11:11 comment... But why were they out at 2:40am? Coming off shift work?
Posted by baroness on Tue Aug 18, 2009 11:44 AM" Where exactly do I say it's a crime to be out at that time of morning? I don't and I even mention shift work as a possible reason. What made you think that anyway? Apparently there is a doubt in your mind or you wouldn't have read that into it. As a matter of fact I found the comments after midnight last night myself. I also used to do my morning exercise in the hot months at 4am at a policed, lit, track, and saw quite a few people up and about. My husband did rotating shifts for over 20 years, which meant, even as a stay at home mom, that I was doing shift work hours along with him if I wanted to have any time with him when he was on night shift. Some posters are looking for trouble where there is none. By the way, I have never worked for Burger King, but it's honest work and I would work there if I needed to. But I DON'T need to Native double zero.

pommom and the other posters

pommom and the other posters that have nothing to do except verbally abuse other posters, it seems to me that you are the ones that need a life. If I didn't have a life, I would have been on here monitoring the article's comments all day, instead of living my life. Your comments were not just rude but unwarranted. BTW, don't you think the police wanted to know why they were out at 2:40am? It is a standard question and could very well be relevant. If I was being shot at, I would expect them to ask it, or wonder if they were doing their job.
