Grocery shopper robbed at her car

A 52-year-old woman was robbed Monday afternoon in the parking lot of Bi-Lo, 2803 Wrightsboro Road.

According to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office report, the shopper was putting her groceries into her car shortly after 5 p.m. when a man in his 30s approached her car.

She said the man told her to get back or he would hurt her. He reached into her car through the driver’s door, took her purse and left in a white Oldsmobile Intrigue bearing Georgia tag BWP 0711.

A witness said that he saw a man at the woman's car and that the woman acted upset. The victim pointed at the car and waved for him to follow it.

The witness followed the car through the parking lot and out the back between Rite-Aid and Movie Gallery. The witness got the tag number and make of the car when it stopped at the stop sign.

The vehicle drove east on Wrightsboro Road toward Highland Avenue.

The robber was described as black and about 6 feet tall; he wore a white shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at (706) 821-1080.
