COLUMBIA — Ida Dargan McMaster, the mother of South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster, has died at her home. She was 88.

Mr. McMaster said his mother died in her sleep Saturday night.

He had planned to make an announcement this week regarding his plans for the 2010 campaign for governor, followed by a tour of the state. In a statement released this afternoon, Mr. McMaster said all campaign plans for the week have been postponed.

Two weeks ago, McMaster filed a campaign disclosure form with the South Carolina Ethics Commission that indicates he is running for governor.

Funeral services for Ida Dargan McMaster are scheduled for Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Columbia.

I would offer my condolences

I would offer my condolences if Henry McMaster wasn't one of the biggest hypocrites in South Carolina.
