A crash on Interstate 20 claimed the life of a Thomson man early Saturday morning, marking the fourth fatality in the two-mile stretch in the last week.

Curtis Evans Jr., 19, was riding in a Chevrolet S-10 going eastbound on 1-20 near mile marker 157 in Warren County when a vehicle hit the truck from the back, said Warren County Coroner Paul Lowe. Both the driver of the truck and Mr. Evans were ejected. Mr. Evans was pronounced dead at 3:57 a.m. at the scene, Mr. Lowe said.

The driver was transported to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital and Clinics, but Mr. Lowe did not have details on his condition.

Charges are pending against the driver of the other vehicle, Mr. Lowe said.

On Aug. 8, three people died in a car crash at mile marker 159 near the site of Saturday night’s crash. Robert M. Rowell, 68, of the 3900 block of Loblolly Trail, Martinez, and Alan William Dick, 63, and his wife, Leah-Tatum Dick, 57, who had homes in Martinez and Atlanta, died in the accident.

Another condolences. Please note: "On Aug. 8, three people died in a car crash at mile marker 159 near the sight of Saturday night’s crash." This should read "near the site of" or "in sight of". Hopefully this Chevy S-10 didn't have silver flames on it and the smoke stacks described in an earlier story about a shooting... Why did the ramming occur? Misjudgment of following distance or intentional?
