COLUMBIA — How to hunt a gator is the topic of a seminar sponsored by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.

The seminar today at the South Carolina State Museum in Columbia is being held for hunters participating in this year's alligator hunt.

Topics include capturing gators, rules and regulations, hunting equipment and processing.

The alligator season opens Sept. 12 and runs through Oct. 10.

Last year was the first time in 44 years people could hunt alligators in South Carolina's public waterways. Hunters killed 190 alligators.
