Six people were taken to the hospital after a head-on collision near Bobby Jones Expressway late Friday night.

Five passengers in a Plymouth Voyager were taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital with minor injuries, said Columbia County sheriff’s Deputy Ted Powers. The driver of the other vehicle, a Toyota Tacoma, was sent to MCG with head injuries.

The driver of the van was traveling northbound from Bobby Jones Expressway crossing over to Old Evans Road when the pickup truck attempted a left turn onto Washington Road from Old Evans Road without yielding, he said. The vehicles collided head-on.

The crash held up traffic at the intersection of Bobby Jones Expressway and Washington Road for about 45 minutes, Deputy Powers said.

Charges are pending against the driver of the truck, he said.

I can't believe you said that

I can't believe you said that "the truck driver was probably on the phone." I know there were wrecks before cell phones were invented. So pray tell, how did you come up with this? We should stop judging ,and for sure when we don't know.
