Golfer cites back injury

CHASKA, Minn. – John Daly withdrew from the PGA Championship today after finishing with consecutive double bogeys for 78. He cited a back injury.

Daly shot 88 in his previous round at the Buick Open, and he was contemplating a long break from golf. His swing coach suggested his diet was out of whack after the former PGA champion lost 80 pounds in four months.

Daly made a long eagle putt at No. 7 today and was 2-over for the tournament. But he made double bogey on his final two holes, including a three-putt on his final hole.

It is really sad to see such

It is really sad to see such talent wasted. I know alcohol is a killer but it is also a destroyer of the living person. I know he says he has quit but alcohol is always in the background doing pushups and getting stronger for the next bout. I wish him the best and remember one is too many and 20 are not enough.
