Screven teen arrested; principal bitten in school altercation

SYLVANIA, Ga. -- It took at least three men and a police officer to subdue a 16-year-old Screven County High School student last week in an altercation in which a school principal was also bitten.

Authorities have charged the teen, identified as Eric Johnson, with misdemeanor battery, obstruction of an officer and disrupting a public school.

According to an account in the Sylvania Telephone newspaper, the Aug. 5 incident began when a teacher asked the teen to return to his position in the lunch line after accusing him of cutting in front of other students.

The teenager was taken to the principal’s office where he refused to answer questions such as his age and who could pick him up from the school, the newspaper reported. Officials finally asked a Sylvania police officer to arrest the student and the teen resisted.

When the officer tried to handcuff him, he pulled away and tried to open the office door.

“He is very combative at this point and it is taking everything the four of us can do to get him on the floor and hold him there,” Director of Operations Williams Bland said in the report. Principal Brett Warren was bitten on his arm during the altercation.

“I was holding (his) body and I could see that (he) was trying to bite me and told him not to bite me,” Principal Warren said in his account. “Then he bit me on my left bicep.”

The principal received a tetanus shot the next day, the newspaper reported.

bone

i've heard if their gums are blue then the bite is poisonous...

Once bitten, twice shy. He needs to be suspended for the entire school year.

mad_max

They might as well take this one out back and shoot him. He will definitely kill some real human being before he is 21.

LOL ... bone

The Ode

He needs to be suspended permanently. It is the taxpayer's responsibility to keep wasting money on dregs such as this. At some point people need to be held responsible for their actions.

Craig Spinks

Obviously Johnson was never bitten in retaliation for his toddler biting misbehaviors.

DEVGRU

Aw come on. He is just a misunderstood child. He just needs somebody to show him some love.

123 WHY

An altercation? They need to tell the real story! While all the comments, you need to know what the Screven County School System is like and how the children are treated. If you need a story, come to Sylvania and we will tell you what it is like.

corgimom

Chocolategirl, I have news for you. You think school is bad. Wait till you get out of school and get into the real world. I laugh when high school students talk about how mistreated they are.

jack

Chocaletgirl. I am sure you are treated in accordance with your conduct.

A different look: The story attempts to paint the teens as king kong with four grown men having trouble restraining him. Those words are code for the teen being a young man of color and the story writer, also being non-minority further accepts the story of the so-called grown men. The question: The teacher accused Johnson of cutting the line; how sure is that teacher of exactly who jumped line? With my valuable life experiences as a guide, this kid was wrongfully accused of cutting line. The adults who are paid to be role models failed this kid. They will never admit it, but their acts are really questionable. Those of us well-traveled and mentally aware see behind the printed news. And why did "they" question him about his age? Yep, those adults may require further inquiry.

mad_max

Heh heh heh, justus4 if you can tell all of that from the AC article you are not just "aware", you are frigging telepathic. What a crock of crap you spout. What you have down there is a loud mouthed punk who just had to swell up and attempt to show his manhood because someone questioned his steriotypical anti-social pre-criminal behavior of breaking in line with steriotypical lack of respect for anyone else. I don't know if Eric is black or white but they should have tazed his loud mouthed disrespectful butt and took him to the slammer.

anotherday

Well, mad_max, I think that about sums it up! Couldn't have said it better myself.

MyOpinion2

I'll show him, love. Then I'll show him my 357 mag.

KSL

justus, how much does the AC pay you to come up with your c##p?

Newsreader

Justus I sure hope that you can get some medicine, surgery, or glasses that can help you to see in vivid color. Never seeing anything but white against black really has an effect on your intelligence. I pray for your recovery, or at least some relief. But I am glad that the AC use white background with black text. That way you can continue to feel important as you spout your stupidity at every chance.

Native007

NEVER mess with a kid on taco day!
And what number is Screven?

stillamazed

Justus, Sylvania, Eric Johnson, nothing in that name makes me think this kid is of color. I bet he is a white kid, you kill me with your predjudice comments, you are actually the most predjudice person who ever posts on here. You probably live in a nice home, drive a nice car, have an education but still thinks the world owes you a favor, get over yourself, I feel sorry for your children if you feed all this hate in their minds everyday.....

mable8

Although the young man should not have become combative, what was the reason for calling the police in the first place? The principal knows who their students are and how to contact the parents; calling in the police because a teenager refuses to answer a question is really rather stupid. What would happen if every parent in the county called the police when their child refused to answer their questions???? By the way, justus4, just where is any "color" identified in either article on this incident? Bad things happen to others besides "black" persons. Your prejudicial ideology is sickening, to say the least.

Fiat_Lux

Oh, Max, I can't stop laughing!
