AIKEN -- Aiken County students earned $33.9 million in college scholarships for 2008-2009, according to totals released today by the South Carolina Education Department.
Statewide, students earned $869 million in college scholarships, which was up more than $100 million from the 2007-2008 school year.
The state has tracked scholarship totals for the last seven years. Scholarships totaled included those to two and four year colleges and universities.
Edgefield County students earned $2.6 million in scholarships in 2008-2009. Aiken County students have earned $132 million in scholarships over five years.
