Police are searching for a suspect in a bank robbery at the Regions Bank on Peach Orchard Road.

The robbery occurred at about 11:30 a.m. when a man entered the bank and demanded money from a teller, police said. The man didn't show a gun and had a plastic bag tied around his head with a white T-shirt covering his face, according to authorities.

"He gets an undisclosed amount of money from her (the teller) and runs out of the bank to the woodline," said Richmond County sheriff's Sgt. Calvin Chew.

Police are currently searching the area around the bank with the help of search dogs. Already, authorities have recovered a white T-shirt dropped by the man as he ran.

The suspect is described as black, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a medium to slim build and wearing blue jeans.

"The man didn't show a gun and had a plastic bag tied around his head with a white T-shirt covering his face, according to authorities." .... just curious but how did he breathe?

Plastic bag tied around his head? Oh, yeah, that was a good idea. South Augusta is THE place to be.

Yeh, the (insert standard description)s that we get over here ain't too bright. Unfortunately the same mental aptitude ranges from the mini-mart robbers all the way through to the county commission.

Even the bank robbing thugs are changing, change you can believe in.

The robber showed no gun or weapon and they just gave him cash??? Well mister bank bandit count your blessing you didn't
try robbing our office. It would have been tag on the toe for you.

Whether showing a gun or faking possession of one, bank robbery's still a felony. This is how an amateur gets to go to graduate school.

the money didn't have any red dye, what's up with that?

Fiat Lux - You're on the wrong page (in more ways than one).

Oops. Wonder how that happened. Thanks, 3M, although your snarkiness is pretty much a clue about where you are.

Stop handing over free money to idiots. You make it too easy for people to commit robbery. Say no! Members ought to have a personal card to scan at the door to enter.

Whether they have a gun or not, as a teller you HAVE to follow their demands. Did you not see the story where the teller was fired for not complying with the robber's request? You never know what could happen and the bank is not going to want to take responsibility for the teller's actions if they do not do what the bank requires them to do, which is comply with whatever the robber wants. You give the money and let them leave.

A black, in Augusta robbing??? Imagine that

I feel instead of searching for him, they need to be looking for his body, with all that on, he couldnt have survived,it sounds foolish,to see somebody wit all that crap on his head, and face, and u hand him a bag of money, instead of some water, come on,where's the hospitality.
