Richmond County sheriff's dispatchers said they had no reports of traffic problems, but splintered trees and numerous branches were scattered about the downtown business district.

A Georgia Power Co. spokeswoman said there were 58 reported power outages.

An official with the National Weather Service called it a severe thunderstorm with straight-line winds. He said his agency had no measurement of the wind's velocity.

Wind, rain and hail lasted

Wind, rain and hail lasted for about 10 minutes, but that was long enough! Major limbs are off a number of trees below 6th Street with some roof damage and downed power lines. The huge tree at 4th and Broad fell just between the two veterans monuments. 'Twas a bit scary. . .

the one in the video is, yes... that's on the back side of "The News Building".. the tree I'm referring to is at the entrance to old town, blocking the east bound lane of broad street entirely, knocking out power for a good section of broad.. in front of the pink adobe style home...
