A Republican candidate for the 2010 Georgia governor’s race will be coming to the area this week for a meet-and-greet at a Martinez home.

State Rep. Austin Scott, R-Tifton, will be attending a hot dog and slaw meet-and-greet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the home of Lee Benedict, the District 2 chairman of the Columbia County Republican Party.

The event is free of charge and open to the public. Dress is casual comfortable.

Mr. Scott represents House District 153, serving Tift and Turner counties. He is the chairman of the House Governmental Affairs Committee, and he has made headlines recently by undertaking a 1000-mile Walk of Georgia to meet with citizens around the state.

Anyone who wishes to attend may contact Lee Benedict at (706) 829-0484 or lcbenedict@gmail.com for directions and to R.S.V.

I hear Scott is a pretty good guy. Just doesn't have enough name recognition to make it this time.
