An Aiken woman was killed in a Friday morning motorcycle crash.

Christie Valenzuela, 35, was pronounced dead at Medical College of Georgia Hospital at 3:55 p.m. Friday, according to a news release from Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.

Ms. Valenzuela was riding on a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle that was driven by her husband, Michael Valenzuela, around 11:50 a.m. Mr. Valenzuela was traveling west on Redds Road when authorities say he took an evasive action that is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. He lost control of the vehicle and the couple fell off.

Mr. Valenzuela received moderate but not life threatening injuries. The crash was the 27th fatal wreck in Aiken County this year.
