Wow, this victim is far removed from reality.....yes, one should be able to walk around with thousands of dollars in thier pockets and me unmolested....but the reality of the day is, you are crazy if you do. The most anyone is getting from me is about 10 bucks, and some hot lead for thier troubles.....

Big brave crook picking on an 88 year old man. How about a description AC or should we just (insert standard description). You know AC that every time you do not print a description that we assume (insert standard description) because we, statistically, will be right 95% of the time. Not only are these thieving scumbags the lowest lifeform on earth, they are COWARDS. OLD FOLKS...carry a gun everywhere you go. You have earned what you have. These people feel entitled to steal it from you. Kill them. They have no qualms about killing you while stealing from you. Protect yourself and be on guard at all times. They are getting bold and they are going where you go and robbing you in broad daylight. Be leary of anyone who approaches you, no matter how innocent they appear. It only takes a split second to knock you down and rob you. Be prepared to shoot and when you shoot, shoot to kill. Dead perps cannot tell conflicting stories.

What a coward. An 88 year old man. Really? Wow, what a dirt bag.

Crime in Augusta is out of control. Time to get the National Guard in here.

mrlonglelgs

I carry cash in my pocket but I also carry a 460v Smith and Wesson. So robber and muggers be careful of your foolish act
it just might be your last.

RAWR

Its about time for these cowards to take a dirt nap.

themaninthemirror

Why would an 88 year old man be out walking at 9:45 p.m. at night? And carrying that much cash? But that is beside the point. The piece of trash that did this to him should be shown a short rope and a big tall tree. There is no excuse for this. However, I hate to think what might have happened if the thug had not gotten any money at all. But no one in their right mind should carry that much cash on them.

You people dont get it. Why should someone not carry that much cash on them? Why should someone not be out at 2145? I typically do not carry cash. But that is not because I fear getting robbed. I prefer to swipe plastic, its more convienent. I will walk at 0200 if I wish. I am not going to let people like this control my life. If these cowards ever approach me it will be their last encounter.

More of the "entitlement" crowd hard at work!

Is Charles B. still alive? If not I will take his place. Where is our law enforcement writing tickets at 520 exit off Wheeler. Go figure!

LaTwon

clearly a hate crime inspired by the lefts bigoted hateful violence inspiring speech in the war on medicine. special rights for doctors now!

DMac_357

This is unfortunate that this man was beated and robbed. I pray that he's okay. Even as he recovers, he'll probably still have a hard time sleeping. Hopefully they catch the thief and put him behind bars before he hurts someone else. Mad Max - your (insert standard description) line is stupid. Native - what does politics have to do with this story??

The Doctor has a right to go walking anytime he wishes. Get off his case. He can carry all the money he wants to if it is his, OK?
At his and my age, we need to walk when the body allows us.
I always carry something under $10,000. (Way under). The Doctor is most likely like most seniors. The way Prezbho is taking money left and right, you feel safer with it in your pocket.

The Ode

Get yourself a large caliber gun, hollow tip bullets, and a concealed carry permit. Don't even mess around with a little .22 or something. An armed society is a polite society and it is way past time to start dropping these thugs in the dirt. I eagerly await a description of the thug.

What was this man doing out at 88 years old at 10 o'clock walking around? He must have thought that he was back in the 1920's.

Doesnt matter why he was out at that time at night or how much money he had. What matters in some punk beat and robbed him. Last I checked we supposed to be able to go anywhere we want. I carry a handgun and most of my friends do to. But when I go out walking at night I take my pitbull. I'd be happy to give this man a pit pup if the paper will have him contact me. My dogs are completely trained in personal protection

Welcome to Augusta, The Crime Capital of Georgia.

Riverman1

HillGuy, we got it. You don't like Augusta. I live in Columbia Cty, but I try to stay positive about the CSRA. What's the use of constantly slamming where YOU live? Greyhound and all that is ready.

Aren't there medical offices on Rossmore Place, maybe he was leaving work...

Grinder

Dear Attacker I'm 89 years old and frail. For the next several nights, I'll be walking alone in 100 block of Rossmore Place, near Perimeter Parkway and Wheeler Road, at about 9:45 p.m. I'll carry a large sum of cash. I'll be an easy target ...

Most of the readers comments state "Carry a Gun". The Dr was hit in the back, chances are if he had had a gun on him he would not have been able to use it, plus if he had pulled it, being that he was already knocked to the ground, the thief would have gotten the gun away from him or perhaps had a gun themself and shot the dr. This could have been a lot worse for the dr if he would have had a gun. I do not know what type of area ( good or bad ) this is. But it is safer to walk in groups of 2 or more. Most thieves are least likely to attack someone that has others with them.Guns are not always the answer.

christie

Doesn't matter how much money he had on him or what time he was walking, crooks attack anyone no matter what age or time of day.

HillGuy

Riverman, you can't make a turd smell like a rose.. The crime in Augusta is out of control.. murders nearly double from last year.. armed robberies, violent crime, all way up. This is approaching crisis level, but if you'd rather stick your head in the sand, go right ahead. It is getting to the point where just venturing into Richmond County is hazardous to your health and safety. There should be a warning label posted on the welcome sign.

charlesd

Black and White or White and Black...if you will,You just can't change the stripes on a Zebra.......

opiner

Now THIS is Obamacare. Doctors, get ready for plenty of muggings. Your tax dollars at work.

JohnQPublic

Someone knew this old man and knew how much money he carried! What dirt bags to do this to anyone!

Pu239

Hillguy? so would that mean there is a TURD on the Welcome to the Columbia County sign? You should really be careful Hillguy, the way you walk around with your nose turned up all the time, if you were to get caught in one of these summer showers, you would surely drown. BLESS YOUR HEART

Taylor B

Looks like he should have had 422 bucks and a pistol in his pocket. Perform a little roadside surgery on these shmoes.
