Two people were airlifted to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital this afternoon after a three-car wreck on Washington Road.

Gregory Teasley, 48, of Faircloth Drive in Evans, and Mari Lee Stewart, 74, of Keg Creek Drive in Appling, were taken to the hospital by AirMed helicopter.

The wreck occurred about 3:30 p.m. on Washington Road at M&M Road in Appling. Police say Mr. Teasley, who was eastbound, crossed the center line and grazed the side of a GMC truck pulling a camper. The truck was driven by Brandon Goodwin, 28, of Manchester Drive in Grovetown.

Mr. Teasley’s Suzuki Reno was thrown farther into the oncoming lane, where he struck Ms. Stewart’s Jeep Cherokee head-on.

Witnesses who had been following Mr. Teasley for several miles told police at the scene that he had been weaving, Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Morris said.

Ms. Stewart is in critical condition and Mr. Teasley is in serious condition, said Denise Parrish, a hospital spokeswoman. Mr. Goodwin was not injured.

Charges against Mr. Teasley are pending, Capt. Morris said.

Sounds like the witnesses should have called the cops miles ago. I pray for the families of those involved.

Thanks alot Mr. Teasley, you caused me to miss my daughter's dance recital. Hope you get all better, but that is an hour and a half spent in traffic that I'll never get back. A question, why can't the Columbia county police direct traffic around an accident? There were six or seven car loads of police just milling around like they were watching a really cool tv show.
