A 25-year-old Augusta woman said a man claiming to be a Richmond County deputy swindled her out of $747 Sunday. The victim said she received a call from Officer Porter who said the victims friend was in jail for DUI, according to a Richmond County sheriffs office report.
The suspect told her to send a money gram to "Castleberry Bonds" in order to get her friend out of jail, the report states. Deputies later confirmed that the victims friend was never in jail and had not been arrested for DUI.
The victim attempted to cancel the money gram but it had already been sent.
Can you say MORON?
I will not get anyone out of jail for dui. I certainly know not to take the word of a "deputy" who called me asking for money.
I bet the caller ID said "Private Number" on it too. Hello! lol
You can't fix stupid. Had to be somebody that knew her and her "friend" and that she cared enough for her "friend" to bail them out.
She probably should have just prayed for her friend....
Not even going to say anything about this one.......
I had that happen to me once. I asked so many questions the caller said he would call me back- but never did!
I have a couple of acres of bottom land swamp on my property, think she'd be interested?
Bet it was the friend she was bailing out
Ever who it was knew she wasn't too bright.
Harris, I DID call you back, but there was no answer. When's a good time to reach you?
Demented Dave- a person with a good sense of humor- I can handle that!
