The Georgia sales tax holiday is a great time to save on big-ticket back-to-school purchases. But hurry. The event, which exempts local and state tax on purchases of certain school-related items, ends today.

The following items are eligible for state and local sales tax exemption:

Articles of clothing: Clothing and footwear with a price of $100 or less per item. Accessories such as handbags, umbrellas, cuff links, jewelry, wallets and watches are not exempt.

Personal computers: A single purchase of $1,500 or less of personal computers or related accessories. If the single purchase exceeds $1,500, the entire transaction is taxable.

General School Supplies: General school supplies with a price of $20 or less per item.
