Woman arrested, 3 men sought in Aiken holdup

AIKEN -- Aiken authorities have arrested an 18-year-old Aiken woman in the attempted armed robbery of a taxi cab and are looking for three men in the case.

Taqueisha Stephanie Keitt has been charged with attempted armed robbery and assault and battery with intent to kill, according to Aiken County jail records.

Aiken Department of Public Safety Sgt. Aaron Dowdy said today that the incident occurred Thursday as four people exited a taxi cab on Columbia Avenue.

He said the group attempted to rob the driver and someone who was riding with the driver, but that the taxi drove off before that could happen. At that point, Sgt. Dowdy said, one of the suspects shot one or two rounds from a gun at the cab, shattering a back window.

He said an officer was later able to stop a woman in the area whose clothing fit the description of a suspect.

“At some point, they were able to get a hold of this girl’s cell phone and look at it and one of the last numbers dialed was to the cab company. That’s how they tied her to it,” he said.

Sgt. Dowdy said his department is still looking for three black males in the case, adding that he had no other description available.
