GREENVILLE, S.C. — Authorities say a 45-year-old South Carolina man pulled from a burning home has died, while his wife was flown to an Augusta burn hospital.

Multiple media outlets reported that Larry Douglas Painter died about 7:15 a.m. today.

Deputy Coroner Kent Dill said Painter died at a hospital about an hour after firefighters rescued him and his wife from their Greenville mobile home.

Frances Annette Thomason was airlifted to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta with serious injuries.

Officials say the couple's 16-year-old son was able to escape the flames after pushing an air conditioning unit out of his window.

Dill says the cause of the fire is under investigation
