SPARTANBURG, S.C. - A memorial service is scheduled next week for five people killed in South Carolina by a man later shot to death by police in North Carolina.

The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported that the service is planned for July 28 at Restoration Church International in Gaffney.

Five people were shot in Cherokee County between June 27 and July 2. The last victim, 15-year-old Abby Tyler, died July 4 in a Spartanburg hospital.

Forty-one-year-old Patrick Burris was linked by evidence to the three crime scenes after he was shot and killed in a shootout with police in Gastonia, N.C., on July 6.

Cherokee County Sheriff Bill Blanton says the public is invited to join families and friends of the victims and law enforcement officers at the service.
