Expect detours at Wheeler Road exit soon

  • Follow Latest News

Certain drivers will no longer be able use two exit ramps at Wheeler Road and Bobby Jones Expressway in the coming weeks.

Beginning Monday, motorists driving eastbound on Bobby Jones will not be able to exit onto Wheeler Road, according to a Georgia Department of Transportation press release. The drivers will be detoured to Wrightsboro Road and must use Augusta West Parkway to get back to Wheeler Road, the release said.

Starting August 10, those traveling eastbound on Wheeler Road will not be able to exit onto Bobby Jones Expressway east. They will be detoured using Marks Church Road and Wrightsboro Road. Drivers are asked to use alternate routes if possible to avoid the work zones.

Of course, we can't expect

Of course, we can't expect A-RC DOT to change to way the traffic lights cycle to help ease the mess on Augusta West Parkway. That would be stepping too far toward useful.
