Watch how you park in Atlanta

ATLANTA — If you drive to Atlanta a lot, beware of where and how you park.

Atlanta City Council has voted to place boots on vehicles if they have three or more parking tickets.

The voted Monday calls for drivers to pay $50 a day to remove the boot and plans call for a 60-day public education program to explain the changes, then a 30-day amnesty period for motorists to pay their tickets.

The booting is part of an effort calling for meter installation and maintenance, meter revenue collection, electronic processing of ticketing and payments and delinquent collections.
