Richmond County sheriff's investigators believe the man responsible for breaking into a local pharmacy last week has committed the same crime more than once.

Comparing surveillance video from 2008, Investigator Aaron Hannsz said it appears the same suspect broke into the CVS Pharmacy on Gordon Highway last spring, as well.

In each case, the burglar broke through the front windows and took several cartons of cigarettes. Anyone with information on the suspect can call the sheriff's office at (706) 821-1080.

Remember prohibition and the exhorbitant taxes put on booze after it was repealed? Both actions resulted in a huge increase in crime to include bootlegging and murder. Prohibition AND the huge unfair taxes had to be repealed in the end just to keep down the crime. Keep raising those taxes and there will be killings over cigarettes. There is already bootlegging and stealing. Killing won't be far behind. There are always alternatives to being forced to pay unfair federal and state taxes. Taxes on cigarettes mainly affect the poor. If they can't quit, and it is hard, they will steal and maybe kill to get them. And stealing cigarettes and selling them for $20 a carton is a pretty good business right now. Go ahead America. Keep up your santimonious "we know what's good for you" tyranny. Bring about your own demise. When the government is stealing from you maybe it is justified to steal in response. I choose to buy from bootleggers. Either way, some of us have been pushed about as far as we are going to take. I am not condoning this theft but you should understand, unfair taxation creates crime. When you take an already overtaxed product and tax it more, people feel justified stealing.
