Lionel Street woman finds damaged home looted

  • Follow Latest News

A 76-year-old woman who was staying with family members after a tree fell on her house last month returned home this week and discovered her home had been ransacked.

The victim told police that a family member was driving by the Lionel Street home on Thursday and saw an open window, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s report.

They discovered burglars had stolen her washing machine, dryer and an air-conditioning unit, the report said. The woman said family members had tried to nail the windows shut several weeks ago but did not finish.

What a horrible thing for

What a horrible thing for this poor woman. 76 years old and her neighbors couldn't be bothered to look out for her while she is away. miss, you're probably correct in assuming it was a neighbor who took her things.

Desparate for what? This

Desparate for what? This country hasn't even seen hard times. With the lack of morals and respect for human life, we'll surely be worse than any other country in the world. There are poor countries with starving people that don't treat each other this way. The theives probably weren't poor. They weren't desparate, they just wanted to make a quick buck on someone elses misfortune.

I'm sure it was someone who knew where she was and how long she was going to be gone. People's bad deeds eventually catches up with them. Each person will have to answer to Jehovah.

Thieves read the paper, too.

Thieves read the paper, too. The paper writes these stories and they practically say "come loot this house, no one will be there".
