An Augusta man is recovering today after being shot in the leg by his brother Sunday evening.

The two men were handling the gun at a home on the 4000 block of Madison Lane around 4:45 p.m. when the weapon discharged, said Richmond County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ken Rogers. One of the brothers was shot in his right calf, Sgt. Rogers said.

He was taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital and Clinics, but his injury was not life-threatening, Sgt. Rogers said.

No charges were filed.
