Search committee announced to select new MCG president

Augusta businessmen Clay Boardman and Walter Dukes will be among the Medical College of Georgia presidential search committee members looking for a replacement for President Daniel W. Rahn, the University System of Georgia Board of Regents announced today.

Other community members and MCG faculty members named to the search committee are: Dr. John Blalock, professor in the School of Dentistry; Dr. John Catravas, director of the MCG Vascular Biology Center; Dr. Anthony Mulloy, chair of the Physicians Practice Group; Dr. Pamela Cook, professor in the School of Nursing and vice chair of the Faculty Senate; Dr. Kent Guion, associate dean in the School of Allied Health; Dr. Ana Murphy, chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Dr. Ben Cheek, president of the School of Medicine Alumni Association; Dr. Dan Deloach; past chair of Medical College of Georgia Foundation Board of Trustees; Dr. Dawnyetta Marable, a dental student and president of the Student Government Association; Mickey Williford, director of Organizational Development and Effectiveness; and Jim Lientz, Chief Operating Officer for the State of Georgia.

The search will be headed up Regent James Bishop and will include fellow Regents William Cleveland, Robert Hatcher, Mansfield Jennings, Donald Leebern, Kessel Stelling, and Ben Tarbutton. R. William Funk and Associates of Dallas will serve as the search firm.

Mr. Boardman is chairman of the board of Georgia Health Sciences University Foundation. Mr. Dukes is regional vice president for Georgia Power Co.

Dr. Rahn is leaving by the end of October to become Chancellor of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
