Police are searching for a suspect that stole cash from a Chinese restaurant last month.

The man entered the New China Buffet restaurant in the 3200 block of Peach Orchard Road around 10:40 a.m. June 19, said Richmond County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Paul Evans.

When cashier left her post, the man reached behind the counter and took $50 in one-dollar bills.

The suspect is described as a black man with a bald head and a goatee, between 5-feet 10-inches and 6-feet tall, weighing about 200 pounds.

Anyone with information can contact the Richmond Sheriff's Office at (706) 821-1080.

Can you BELIEVE she left that register OPEN? L.O.S.E.R. in more ways than one!

Don't leave the register drawer open for goodness sakes.

Unbelievable.

Stupid girl for leaving the register open! And stupid, stupid, stupid man for taking the money! He looks right at the security camera and shows all of us his total lack of integrity!

Give the guy a break. He was probably stealing to pay child support or to buy food for his family!

10:40 in the morning. Unless they are a Chinese breakfast buffet there probably weren't any big bills in the register yet. Nonetheless, poor security, and he isn't terribly brilliant looking right at the camera. "I'll hide behind the bamboo. Nobody will see me." I'll bet he stole the 50 bucks for cab fare to get home and get his MENSA Application out of the mailbox.

Something tells me that this thief will not savor his first visit with Sgt. Evans.

The cashier should have to pay the $50 bucks. Put the thief in jail and keep him there.

Andywarhol - And that's why he was dining out in a restaurant, because he needed money to pay child support or food for his family? Why not try holding up a local bank? There's a lot more money to be had, and the risk of getting caught is the same! No, this was some ignorant, greedy B....D! More than likely, an ex-con by the looks of him.
