Teen faces trial in club death

  • Follow Latest News

A Richmond County Superior Court jury will be asked to determine if a young Augusta man is responsible for a shooting death at the Club Platinum.

The shooting of 24-year-old Nicholas M. Carpenter on July 1, 2007, was cited as one of the reasons city commissioners revoked the North Leg Road teen club’s business license earlier this year.

Denzel L. Ward was 16 when charged with murder in the death of Mr. Carpenter. He has pleaded not guilty.

Try him as an adult, convict

Try him as an adult, convict him as an adult, assign him to "Big Boy" prison, so that he does not put another notch on his gun.
