SPARTANBURG, S.C. -— A former band director at a South Carolina high school has been placed on probation after being charged with molesting four members of the color guard.

Thomas Khoe, 37, pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of aggravated assault and battery and no contest to a third.

The former band director at Chapman High School in Inman was placed on probation for four years. He will not be allowed to teach and cannot take a job that puts him in a supervisory role over anyone younger than 18.

Mr. Khoe also will undergo a mental evaluation to determine whether he should register as a sex offender.

The girls on the color guard came forward with accusations of inappropriate conduct against Mr. Khoe in fall 2007. He had been at Chapman from 1999 to 2007.
