Man stabbed in robbery attempt

Police continue to look for suspects after an Augusta man told them he was the victim of a weekend stabbing and an attempted armed robbery in south Augusta.

According to a Richmond County sheriff’s report, the 26-year-old man said he was walking on Peach Orchard Road about 7:15 p.m. Saturday when a man came from behind an apartment building and demanded money. The assailant stabbed the victim on his right upper arm and cut his right hand when he tried to get the knife away.

The victim was taken to the Medical College of Georgia, where he was treated and released.

The attacker was described as a black man of medium build, 20 to 30 years old and wearing a dark ski mask.
