COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford has left his official residence in the state capital and appears to be heading to spend the weekend with his wife and children.

Sanford left the governor's mansion in Columbia on Friday morning in the passenger seat of a state security sedan. A day earlier, his spokesman said Sanford planned to fly to Florida accompanied by state security for the long holiday weekend.

The two-term Republican says he does not intend to resign. He and wife Jenny also hope to reconcile despite an interview during which the governor told The Associated Press that his Argentine mistress is his soul mate.

Jenny Sanford said in a statement Thursday that she may be able to forgive her husband, but true reconciliation will take time and won't be easy.

Yep, just what he needs more

Yep, just what he needs more time off to rest up from seeing his mistress. His wife is so stupid it is laughable. He calls his mistress his soul mate and his wife hears this and still let's him back into her house. What an idiot!!!

Because of the week he was

Because of the week he was incommunicado, we the public will be mercilessly bombarded with the governor's whereabouts every day for the next 18 months. Enough, already. Why doesn't the Chronicle tell us where Sonny is this weekend, or Saxby, or Bubba?

If this scum bag had not been

If this scum bag had not been "caught" nothing would have changed. He would still be spending tax payers money to run to Argentina as often as he could. I do not see how any woman could take him back knowing all of the things that he has confessed to. It is bad enough wondering much less being told straight up.

His heart is not going to be

His heart is not going to be there, only his flesh. The CHILLING distance between he and Jenny will be evident throughout the remainder of their marriage. How do you fall back in love with someone when you are in love with someone else?
