A brush fire near Fort Gordon's Gate 1 is now out, officials say.

Fort Gordon firefighters will continue to monitor the area for hot spots because it is very dry, said spokeswoman Marla Jones.

... and the

... and the cluster-you-know-what that occurred while Fort Gordon tried to cram everyone out Gates 2 and 3 at 4 pm this afternoon was a disaster in its own right. The PAO would never admit to it! WHAT A MESS!!

Traffic management on Ft.

Traffic management on Ft. Gordon is terrible. I left my building at 4:05 and was directed in a circle back and in front of my workplace 30 minutes later. Not sure if Ft. Gordon has a "traffic management" plan or not, they seemed to be directing all the traffic in one location and creating a HUGE bottle neck. I went out Gate 5 to get to Evans, how crazy is that?

What about the folks who had

What about the folks who had to be evacuated from their homes and the emergency response people who are still out there as of 9:00 pm? How bad is waiting in a little traffic (with your air conditioners on) or a slight detour, compared to what they are going through tonight - working in over 100 degrees temperatures in their heavy gear? Whaaaaa....

IMO the security personnel

IMO the security personnel directing traffic at traffic lights made things worse, not to mention streets like 25th that have 4-way stops at every intersection. I agree with shamrock that it was a "cluster-you-know-what" and hate to think what would happen in a real emergency.

redhead ... you dipstick ...

redhead ... you dipstick ... we're complaining about what could happen if people on Fort Gordon had to be evacuated due to something like a chemical spill .... they wouldn't know how to get everyone off base in a timely manner! They have NO PLAN!! If they can't handle one little brush fire ... never mind, trying to explain is like trying to wee-wee on that brush fire.

As only Ft. Gordon can over

As only Ft. Gordon can over react as happened today, this was total stupidity. Someone tell the security officers to pick up cigarette butts or something to keep them busy.
