A 19-year-old Augusta man told police he was shot while driving on Gordon Highway early Sunday morning.
According to a Richmond County sheriffs report, the man was traveling west in the 1700 block of Gordon Highway at about 2:40 a.m. when a silver Chevrolet Avalanche pulled up beside him. A man leaned out the rear right window of the vehicle and fired a shot from a silver-colored revolver, hitting the victim in the left hand. The driver lost control and flipped his vehicle over a guard rail.
He was taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital for treatment.
Really brave punks we have around here. Shooting at an unsuspecting driver as they go by doesn't take any courage but it does show they are sub-human and dangerous and need to be put down like a rabid ringtail. Hope the next time he sticks a gun out the window an armed citizen puts one between his eyes and splits his skull like a melon.
i agree
Consider the posibility that the story (or the victim's story) is wrong. What if the victim was shot following a drug-deal gone bad...hmmm...the posibilities.
or road rage
Not a bad theory usmcbuckner !
19 years old out at 2:40 a.m. Not much good can come of that.
triscuit@9:28-Yes ,but to be young and free again.
I seriously doubt that the two didn't know one another.
probably coming from that new club over in Carolina @ the old Kmart/Flea Market. Parking lot seemed to be filled with young folks! Looks like N.Augusta closed down the Spot and opened something BIGGER!
Please everyone, be careful out there. Nothing good happens after midnight, but I worry most about people that have to work shifts that have them on the road at those hours, that don't choose to be out at that time, it is necessary for their job. I know I would feel like a target at that time of night. I am glad the victim lived to describe the vehicle that the shooter was in.
I agree that 2:40 a.m. is not the best time for a 19 year old to be out driving. However, as citizens, we all should have the right to feel safe knowing that no matter what time of the day or night, we can safely drive on CSRA roads. As some of you have already stated, the scenarios are endless to what could have happened. A drug deal gone bad, road rage, a prior dispute between the victim and perpertrator, etc. The perpertrator could have even been in a gang initiation and had to pull up to the next car that they saw and shoot. Who knows. All I know is that on the weekends, clubs and bars are busiest and that means we need more deputies on the roads monitoring drunken driving and safety for all motorists. For all we know this young person works at Wal-mart and was getting off of work when he was shot.
People do have second jobs. I work a job that doesn't let me out until after 1, or sometimes later.
I agree 1677. Sounds like something more to the story.
Always is something more to the story!!!!!!
